ON The SPOT!



The question was raised during our discussion of the importance of each vote in changing history of mankind?

WHICH BILL failed by ONE VOTE when one delegate  (New Jersey) was too ill to attend the meeting?

In 1784 Thomas Jefferson created a bill outlining laws for new states joining the United States.  This version of the ordinance would ban slavery in all the new territories of America.  It failed by one vote.

Thomas Jefferson wrote:  "Thus we see the fate of millions unborn hanging on the tongue of one man..."
